  Petroleum Co. and was Manager of the Analytical Chemistry Branch at CPP retiring in 1977.
Dorothy Eames Black, 91, died 4/26/10. She worked at the INL as a Telephone Operator.
David Albert Olehy, 79, died 4/28/10. He worked at the INL for more than 37 years and retired
  in January 1995.

Harriet J. Makinson (80) died 3/3/10. She worked at the INL for Westinghouse at NRF as a Clerk for 30 years. She retired in 1999.

Mark LeRoy Hansen (55) died 3/5/10. He worked at the INL at the Chemical Processing Plant (CPP) for 22 years starting in 1974 as a Hoisting and Rigging Specialist then as a Maintenance Forman/supervisor over laborers Equipment Operators, Carpenters and Painters. He then worked as a sub-contractor for EG&G as a trainer and finally with the Department of Labor (DOL) Energy Employers Compensation Program where he helped former INL employees file claims.

David Joseph Morken (91) died 3/15/10. He worked at the INL as an Engineer at the Test Reactor Area (TRA). He started in 1969 and retired in 1984.

Albert "Dick" Richard Furrows (79) died 3/17/10. He worked at the INL as an Electrical Technician for 16 years.

Glennys Lynn "Lynn" Olson,  67, died on 8/3/09. She worked at the INL for several
  research groups in an administrative support capacity. Her last assignment, before her
  retirement, was as a senior administrative secretary for the director of the Materials
  Science group.

Stanley Merle Hill Jr., 90, died 12/14/09. He worked at the INL in the early days when
  the site was first started.
Eugene "Gene" H. Magleby, 78, Died 12/15/09. He worked at the INL beginning In 1955 with
  Phillips Petroleum Co. in the Physics Department Cross-Sections Group at TRA.
  He served as a Technical Administrator for different managers of the Science
  and Technology Division. He later worked in the Hydro and NRC Radiological
  Programs. He retired in 1988. He was a member of the American nuclear Society.
Donald LaRoy Parsons, 83, died 12/15/09. He worked at the INL as an Electronics
  Technician for EG&G.
Geraldine Ruth Marie Kurtz, 94, died 12/15/09. She worked at the INL for Westinghouse.
Mervin Jessie Gardner, 82, died 12/17/09. He started work at the INL in 1951 as one of the first
  site bus drivers.  After driving for 21 years he became one of the Managers of Bus Operations
  and held that position for 22 years  He retired in 1994 after driving 1,379,00 miles without
  an accident.
Douglas LaMont Taylor Sr., 75, died 12/17/09. He worked at the INL as a Carpenter.
Auther Russell "Russ" Tetley, 79,  died 12/19/09. He worked at the INL for 23 years
  retiring in 1993.
Darwin Clifford Bowden, 86, died 12/24/09. He worked at the INL as a Laborer and Concrete
  Foreman.
Iganacio Resendez, 70, died 12/27/09. He worked at the INL for DOE with oversight responsibility
  of the Idaho Operations Office. He retired in 1994.
John Orson Young, 66, died 12/30/09. He worked at the INL for Argonne -West for 35 years.
Duane Hansen, 78, died 12/31/09. He worked at the INL as a Bus Driver for 28 years,

Francis Lawton "Skeets" Bentzon, 89, died 11/2/09. He worked at the INL as a Nuclear

  Physcist for 30 years, starting in 1954 and retiring in 1985. Prior to that he worked on
  the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, NM..
Sally Jean "Gott" Amar, 52, died 11/4/09. She worked at the INL for several years.
John Jay Pitman, 87, died 11/4/09.He started work at the INL in 1956 as a Maintenance
  Carpenter and retired in1980 having worked 23 years.
Verl Lee Bitter, 80, died 11/11/09. He worked at the INL as an Instrument Tech at CPP.
  He also became a Foreman and retired in 1993.
Archie E. Ker, 78, Died 11/19/09. He worked at the INL as a Photographer for Westinghouse.
Joanne Marie Richter Flinn, 70, died 11/24/09. She worked at the INL for DOE-ID as a Personnel
  Specialist.
Arthur Woodrow Reynolds, 94, died 11/26/09. He worked at the INL starting in 1959 with
  Phillips Petroleum Co. and retired as a Health and Safety Technician in 1981.
Paul Reed Arnsberger, 76, died 11/28/09. He worked at the INL for Argonne National
  Laboratory for 30 years, retireing in 1994.

Debra "Debbie" Kaye Norman Grigg, 51, died 10/4/09. She worked at the INL as a Security Guard for 8 years.
Sylvia Gayle Barnett, 71, died 10/10/09. She worked at the INL for a short time.
Orville R. Meyer, 83, died 10/21/09. He worked at the INL on projects to improve the safety of nuclear power
  plants. In his last 3 years before retiring in 1992, he was the principal investigator for the analysis of
  unusal operating events at nuclear power plants.
Teresa Lynne Daniels, 51, died 10/26/09. She worked at the INL as an Administrative Assistant.
Norberto "Nole" Gonzales, 77, died 10/30/09. He started working at
  the INL in 1966 with Westinghouse followed by other contractors and
  retired in1991.

Robert "Bob" E. Gray, 86, died 9/29/09. He worked at the INL for AEC in 1951 as Chief of the Courier & Shipment

  Section  and later as a Security Inspector. From 1978 until 1987 he worked for EG&G as a Security Inspector
  then became  a Consultant for DOE retiring in 1991.
Merlin LaVerne Bressler, 81, died 9/1/09. He worked at the INL leaving in 1954.
Jane Arnold, 79, died 9/3/09. She worked at the INL Chemical Processing Plant as a Technician.
Paul Edwin Litteneker, 78, died 9/6/09. He worked at the INL for DOE. He started work as a
   Chemical Engineer,  and retired as a Project Manager.
Darril Clair Sparks, 77, died 9/12/09. He worked at the INL for 33 years as an Engineer in the
  Hot Cells and as a Reactor Operator, retiring in 1992.
Kimberly Steel, 41, Died 9/17/09. She worked at the INL for 18 years, most of the time in the
  Payroll Deptartment.
Randall "Randy" Alan Mays, 61, died 9/19/09. He worked at the INL in the Special Programs
  Department until his death.
Harold Dean Strand, 80, died 9/19/09. He worked at the INL as Assistant Division Director
  of Budgets and Administration for Argonne National Laboratory for 32 years. He retired in 1991.
Edison Wayne Roberts, 77, died 9/21/09. He worked at the INL as an Electrical Engineer.
Charles "Charlie" Abrams, 88, died 9/23/09. He worked at the INL starting in 1965 as Manager
  of Radiation Safety at the Naval Reactor Facility. In 1972 he joined Argonne National Laboratory
  as Mnager of Safety Security and Safeguards. He retired in 1990.
Keith Harold Clark, 84, died 9/25/09. He worked at the INL.

Arlo Dwayne Summers, 63, died 8/22/09. He worked at the INL for 37 years as a Certified Health
  Physicist, Nuclear Engineer and was a Licensed Professional Engineer.

George Wellington Jackson Sr. 80, died 7/2/09. He worked at the INL for Argonne National Laboratory
  starting in 1966 and retiring in 1983.
C. Gale Campbell, 74, died 7/3/09. He worked at the INL for Argonne National Laboratory in Material Handling.
Beverly Jeane Ystad Miller, 79, died 7/4/09. She worked at the INL for Westinghouse as a Secretary.
Robert "Bob" Andrew Grimesey, 80, died 7/4/09. He worked at the INL in Reactor Physics for 34 years
  retiring in 1991. He designed a mathematical algorithm to calculate the cross section of elements in the
  core of a nuclear reactor. This algorithm is currently in use by Physicists all over the world.
David Neal Thompson, 52, died 7/5/09. He worked at the INL.
Donald Wayne Reneau, 80, died 7/10/09. He worked at the INL for 31 years for General Electric
  at the Aircraft  Nuclear Propulsion Facility for testing atomic aircraft.
Bobby Herbert Phillips, 79, died 7/13/09. He started working at the INL in 1957 for Argonne National
  Laboratory and helped startup of Nuclear Power plants in several states. He was also a member of
  the Quick Response Team and the Desert Rats Group which took care of remote monitoring equipment
  around the site.
William Rue "Bill" Cook 83 died 7/14/09. He worked at the INL for 20 years.
Michael Edward Jacobsen, 58, died 7/16/09. He worked at the INL as an Editor for EG&G.

Willa Marjean Sutton 81 died 5/12/09. She worked at the INL for 36 years and retired in 1992.

Thelma A. Witzel 94 died 5/13/09. She worked at the INL as Cafeteria Manager for Westinghouse.

L. Dee Scott 69 died 5/14/09. He worked at the INL beginning in 1959. In 1961 he became the first

  licensed Reactor Operator in North American Aviation which started his 50 year career in the Nuclear

  Industry.

Franklin Edward Smith 96 died 5/16/09. He worked at the INL with the AEC from 1949 until 1972.

Warren N. Thompson 75 died 5/20/09. He worked at the INL for EG&G until 1996.

Richard G. Keller 89 died 5/21/09. He worked at the INL starting in 1955 with Phillips Petroleum Co.

  and with subsequent contractors as a Chemical Operator, Reactor Operator and a Component

  Technician retiring in 1981.

Traci J. (Anderson) Taul 54 died 5/30/09. She worked at the INL as an Engineer for over 25 years

  and had her works published in several publications.

Gary Stanton Adams 80 died 5/31/09. He worked at the INL as a Chemist at the NRF Facility for

Glen O. English (85) died 4/3/09. He worked at the INL at TRA as a Manager in the Applied Physics Department starting in 1955 and retiring in 1986.

Dawn Woods (55) died 4/3/09. She worked at the INL as a Radiation Safety Instructor.

John (Jack) Xavier Combo (86) died 4/3/09. He worked at the INL starting in 1962 for AEC. He served as Chief Counsel to ERDA (later the DOE) then as Deputy Manager and Acting Director of the INEEL site.

William Michael "Mike" Isom (53) died 4/5/09. He was working at the INL at the time of his death. He has worked at the site for the past 30 years. His last assignment was as an Operations Manager.

John Edward Jorgensen (84) died 4/6/09. He worked at the INL at TRA for more than 30 years as a Maintenance Supervisor.

Marlyn DeWane Reeser (71) died 4/6/09. He worked at the INL from 1964 until retiring on 1/31/1995.

Boyd Brigham Belnap (91) died 4/8/09. He worked at the INL as a Carpenter.

Adolph Kochevar (77) died 4/11/09. He worked at the INL at Argonne National Laboratory starting in 1964 and retired many years later.

Robert Dale Carruthers (69) died 4/18/09. He worked at the INL from 1992 until retiring in 2001.

Dirk Gombert II (53) died 4/19/09. He was working at the INL at the time of his death. He started in 1987 as a Chemical Engineer. He was a member of the licensed Professional Engineers.

John David Baker (59) died 4/23/09. He worked at the INL on chemical separation techniques. He holds several patents and is the author or co-author of over 50 journal articles. He shared the discovery of 5 new radioisotopes. He also designed purification techniques for every column on the periodic table.

John Michael Newman (38) died 4/26/09. He worked at the INL for the past 5 years at the Advanced Waste Management Treatment Plant as a Shift Supervisor.

Charles Raymond Climer (75) died 4/27/09. He worked at the INL starting in 1956 and retired in 1998.

Alton Anderson (88) died 4/27/09. He worked at the INL as a Chemical Technician for 29 years.

Robert Dale Johnson (71) died 4/28/09. He worked at the INL for Westinghouse starting in 1967 and retired in 1997 after 30 years of service.

Kenneth Russell Dearden (87) died 12/24/08. He worked at the INL for AEC in the Fire Department for 20 years and retired as Fire Chief in 1979.

Harold F. (Hal) Gallagher (87) died 10/17/08. He worked at the INL. He started to work in 1969 with Aerojet General and later worked for Argonne National Laboratory in Nuclear Power and Quality Assurance. He also taught classes in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Idaho.

Wilford Donald (Don) Anderson (87) died 10/18/08. He worked at the INL as a Spent Nuclear Fuel Foreman at the Chemical Processing Plant and retired in 1986.

    design a laboratory and identify analytical methods and equipment for the SIS (Special
    Isotope Separation Project). In his professional career he published several papers.

    Maintenance Insulator at CPP and later as a Foreman. He retired in the year 2000.

68 year old LaJean Sessions Kinghorn died 4/26/08. She worked at the INL for a short time and was
    one of the first women bus drivers at the INL.

    Petroleum Co. with the building of SPERT 1 Reactor. He then advanced to Manager of the Safety
    Program Division with responsibility for all Government Reactor Safety Research at the Idaho
    Site. He was a founding father of the Local American Nuclear Society and
    was made a Fellow in the National American Nuclear Society for his contributions to nuclear
    safety. He retired in 1996.
83 year old John Wallace Ray died 3/15/08. He started work at the INL in 1954 with the Atomic
    Energy Commission as the Chief of Personnel Security where he was in charge of screening
    employment applications for the site. He retired in 1976 
66 year old Darryl Ray Sessions died 3/15/08. He worked at the INL as a Bus Driver starting
    8/4/75 and retiring 3/1/03 after 28 years of service. 
83 year old Luther (Luke) Handley Jones died 3/19/08. He worked at the INL at TRA as a Project
    Engineer Manager. He also had a Professional Engineer's License in Chemical Engineering.
72 year old Shirley Ann Pettit died 3/27/08. She worked at the INL for EG&G for a short while.
79 year old Robert Ira Shurley died 3/29/08. He worked at the INL as a Reactor Operator.

    EBR11. He retired in 1988.
72 year old Fredrick Isaac Gimple died 8/20/07. He worked at the INL as a Custodian for approximately 10 years.
81 year old Jean B. Fletcher died 8/30/07. He worked at the INL for Aerojet Company and EG&G as a Principal Administrator.
    He retired in April 1991.

     Machinist Supervisor and helped set up reactors in Japan and Germany. He retired in

     Technician. Her job with Reactors took her around the USA and to Japan.
88 year old Russell Lafoay Gould died 7/10/07. He worked at the INL in construction.
80 year old Rozella (Rosie) Christensen died 7/14/07. She worked at the INL as a
     Telephone Operator.
85 year old Rose Poll Cousin died 7/25/07. She was employed by the Naval Housing  
     Division in Idaho falls.
93 year old Lola Scott Butler died 7/25/07. She worked at the INL as a Secretary.
73 year old James Arthur (Jim) Schrader died 7/30/07. He worked at the INL at the
     Naval Reactors Facility in various positions and finally as a Nuclear Trainer for the
     Expended Core Facility. He retired in 1991.

 

83 year old James Andrew Mitchell died 6/1/07. He worked at the INL as a Pipe fitter,
     Pipe fitter Forman, and Quality Control inspector and retired in 1970.
51 year old Annette Lemmon Lusk died 6/4/07. She worked at the INL as an 
     Administrative Assistant for DOE for the past 15 years.
87 year old Lowell Dee Barber died 6/6/07. He worked at the INL as a Security Officer
     and retired in 1981.
86 year old Melvin Davis died 6/8/07. He worked at the INL for Westinghouse Electric for
     25 years and retired in 1983.
85 year old John D. (Jack) Ford died 6/10/07. He came to work with Phillips Petroleum
     Company (the original INL contractor) in 1951. He worked as superintendent of the
     MTR and ETR and eventually in reactor safety. He retired in 1986.
90 year old Robert (Bob) George Nobles Sr. died 6/12/07. He worked at the INL for
     Argonne West from 1968 until retiring in 1980. He also worked on the Manhattan
     Project at the University of Chicago under the direction of Nobel Laureate Enrico
     Fermi. Under Fermi's guidance Bob and his colleagues initiated the first sustained
     nuclear chain reaction on Dec. 2, 1942.

     Purchasing for General Electric
92 year old Leda Weech died 6/13/07. She worked at the INL for Phillips Petroleum Co.
     in the Accounting Dept.
79 year old Frank Thomas Bithell Jr. died 6/22/07. He worked at the INL his entire career
     as an accountant and computer programmer.
75 year old Samuel Waldrop McChesney lll died 6/28/07. He worked at the INL from June

     which is now DOE.
68 year old Douglas Wayne McLerran died 4/15/07. He worked at the INL as a
     Construction Surveyor retiring in July 2000.
75 year old Gwen (Chub) Cavill Bird died 4/17/07. He worked at the INL for 23
     years as an Operator and Electrician.
89 year old Mary Elizabeth Shafer Freeman died 4/18/07. She went to work at the INL
     for AEC/DOE in 1961as a Public Information Specialist and retired in 1984.
57 year old Robert Lynn Hoffman died 4/24/07. He worked at the INL as a Net Work 
     Engineer and as a Field Service Technician retiring in February 2007 after 27 years
    of service.

81 year old Talcott (Tad) Erbe Hopkins died 3/17/07. He worked at the INL for AEC/DOE from 1963 until he retired in 1983.
70 year old Wanda died 3/20/07. She worked at the INL as a food service worker until retiring.
